Mud gun drilling

The mud gun is a device used to stir the drilling fluid in the mud tank in the drilling fluid circulation system. Its main purpose is to prevent the drilling mud from settling in the mud tank. The continuous stirring of the rotary mud gun can effectively improve the uniformity of the mud and ensure the stability of the drilling fluid, thereby providing a guarantee for the smooth progress of the drilling project.

Structure of the rotary mud gun

The main components of the rotary mud gun include nozzles, rotating mechanisms and liquid supply systems. According to the pressure, the mud gun can be divided into high-pressure mud guns and low-pressure mud guns:

High-pressure mud gun: The drilling pump discharges the branch flow to supply liquid, and the pressure level is generally 1~6 MPa. This type of mud gun can produce a higher injection speed and is suitable for occasions that require strong stirring.

Low-pressure mud gun: Liquid is usually provided by a centrifugal sand pump, and the pressure level is between 0.2~0.3 MPa, which is suitable for mild stirring needs.

Advantages of mud guns

Prevent sedimentation: The rotary mud gun can effectively prevent sedimentation accumulation at the bottom of the mud tank, so that the mud particles are evenly distributed, thereby ensuring that the performance of the drilling fluid is not attenuated by sedimentation.

Improve stirring efficiency: The design of the rotary nozzle makes the stirring range wider and the stirring effect better. Compared with static stirring equipment, the rotary mud gun can cover the internal area of the mud tank more completely.

Simple maintenance: The structural design of the rotary mud gun is relatively simple, the maintenance cost is low, and the service life is long.

Strong adjustability: By adjusting the pressure and flow rate of the rotary mud gun, it can flexibly adapt to the needs of different drilling conditions and ensure the stirring effect under various conditions.

In practical applications, the use of mud guns drilling can significantly improve the circulation efficiency of the drilling fluid in the mud tank and reduce the risk of mud sedimentation. Especially in long-term drilling operations, the stirring action of the rotary mud gun can reduce the deposition of solid particles at the bottom, reduce the risk of equipment blockage and wear, extend the service life of the equipment, and reduce maintenance costs.
