How to select drilling fluid mud agitator

Drilling fluid mud agitator is a special agitator for solid control of oil drilling. It has different specifications and models. It is not possible to simply move the agitators in chemical, oil refining, food and other industries to use. How to choose a mud agitator, here are 4 points to note.
Drilling fluid mud agitator

1. Mud agitator speed

In oil drilling solid control, in order to prevent the cuttings from being crushed during the mixing process, the speed of the selected mud agitator should not be too high. The speed of the mud agitator should be selected between 50 and 60rpm as much as possible. For mud agitators exceeding 60rpm, users are advised to be cautious.

2. Mud agitator power

From the actual measurement of the motion power of the drilling fluid agitator, the actual output power of the mud agitator does not exceed 2kw. There are two types of agitators with motor power of 7.5kw and 5kw on the market. The design guiding ideology is that it can still be started after the impeller is stopped and buried by sand. But in fact, it is either burning the motor or breaking the impeller. Therefore, the new mud agitator is improved in structure. For example, the impeller that has been put into production is selected to be lifted to a certain height after stopping, and the sand settling effect is very small at this time.

3. Sealing of the agitator

According to the existing experience, due to the extremely harsh working conditions, the drilling fluid mud agitator shaft is not suitable for end face sealing, and the general packing seal is also difficult to adapt. At present, the more successful method is to use multiple sets of V-type packing, which has self-sealing performance and self-replenishment ability, and will not cause lubricating oil leakage problems if it is not maintained or adjusted for a long time.

4. Selection of agitator impeller

There are many kinds of mud agitator impellers, including single impellers and double impellers, but it must be noted that: a small diameter blade, a high-speed mud agitator must have a small circulation volume and a large shear force, and is therefore not suitable for the purpose of solid suspension of drilling fluid. Therefore, the impeller diameter should generally be larger.
