What is the difference between a slurry pump and a mud pump
What is the difference between a slurry pump and a mud pump? Generally, it is necessary to analyze and compare the slurry pump and the mud pump from three aspects. Today, the editor of HL Petroleum will give you an analysis from the following three aspects.
1. Overview of the product
1). Mud pump
Mud pump is also a popular concept of a wide range of pumps. Different regions and habits will eventually involve different types of pumps. This time we are talking about mud pumps used in the field of oil drilling.
2). Slurry pump
Slurry pumps are centrifugal pumps in terms of working principle. Conceptually they refer to a kind of machinery that increases the energy of solid and liquid mixed media through the action of centrifugal force (the rotation of the pump impeller), and converts electrical energy into the kinetic energy of the medium. Potential energy equipment. Mainly applicable to: mining, power plants, dredging, metallurgy, chemical industry, building materials and petroleum industries. The name of the slurry pump is a centrifugal pump divided from the perspective of the conveying medium.
2. The composition of the pump
1). Mud pump
The mud pump is mainly composed of power end, hydraulic end, spray system, lubrication system and perfusion system.
2). Slurry pump
The slurry pump structure is mainly divided into three parts: pump head structure, bracket structure and shaft seal form.
3. Working principle
1). Mud pump
A mud pump is a device that converts the rotary motion of the input shaft into the reciprocating motion of the crosshead and the piston through the crank connecting rod mechanism, thereby converting mechanical energy into liquid energy.
2). Slurry pump
Under the action of centrifugal force, the liquid is thrown from the center of the impeller to the outer edge and gains energy. It leaves the outer edge of the impeller at a high speed and enters the volute pump casing. In the volute pump casing, the liquid is decelerated due to the gradual expansion of the flow channel, and part of the kinetic energy is converted into static pressure energy. Finally, it flows into the discharge pipe at a higher pressure and is sent to the place where it is needed. When the liquid flows from the center of the impeller to the outer edge, a certain vacuum is formed in the center of the impeller. Because the pressure above the liquid level of the storage tank is greater than the pressure at the inlet of the pump, the liquid is continuously pressed into the impeller.
What is the difference between a slurry pump and a mud pump? In addition to the above three points, the purpose of the two pumps is also different. If you want to learn more about the mud pump and the slurry pump, welcome to send inquiry to us: sales@hlsolidscontrol.com
