How do we choose drilling fluid in the process of oil drilling
Drilling fluid cost is an important part of the overall drilling cost, usually expressed by the cost per unit footage, which involves some complex accidents encountered during the drilling process (and can be avoided), such as stuck drill. In many cases, drilling fluid costs also include solids control, management and waste disposal costs. Therefore, it is equally important to reduce the cost of solid phase control, management and waste disposal and to ensure that the drilling fluid plays its basic role. Special maintenance measures and special equipment are required to control the solid content of the drilling fluid and the type of drilling fluid, all of which will lead to higher drilling fluid costs. If the waste fluid and drill cuttings produced by drilling fluid cannot be directly discharged into the surrounding environment, but must be transported away, generally speaking, it will also increase the cost of drilling fluid.
Until now, waste water-based drilling fluids can be directly discharged into the surrounding environment without any treatment. However, many components of water-based drilling fluids are increasingly restricted or prohibited from being used. In many areas, government regulations prohibit the use of chromium-containing substances, such as chromium lignosulfonate. In many areas, the use of chlorides, nitrates, and potassium salts in drilling fluids is enforced, or, more generally, the total conductivity of drilling fluids. Oil-based drilling fluids, especially offshore, have a tendency to be more restricted than water-based drilling fluids, and in many areas, only oil-based drilling fluids with zero discharge measures (sometimes called closed-loop systems) can be used. In some countries, if the toxicity and biodegradability of synthetic-based drilling fluid meet the standard requirements, and it does not produce fluorescence, it can usually be discharged directly into the sea. From this point of view, although the direct cost of synthetic-based drilling fluids is generally higher than that of oil-based drilling fluids, the processing costs are often lower. In this way, the use of synthetic-based drilling fluids can be more economical than oil-based drilling fluids.
Regardless of the choice of drilling fluid, solids control equipment is inseparable. Xi'an HL Petroleum Equipment Co., Ltd. specializes in the production of mud shakers, mud cleaners, desander, degassers, centrifuges, sand pumps, and sprays pumps, shear pumps, mud mixers, mud guns, mud hopper, drill cuttings dryer and other solids control equipment, various accessories can also be provided separately, and can be designed and customized according to customer needs, welcome to send inquiry to us sales@hlsolidscontrol.com.
