Daily management of mud-gas separator

After the mud gas separator is installed, it should be tested and clean water or drilling fluid should be injected into the separator until the liquid flows out from the outlet of the drainage pipe. Before use, the maximum allowable working pressure should be calculated based on the measured effective height of the U-tube and the density of the drilling fluid (maximum allowable working pressure Pmax = effective height of the U-tube H × drilling fluid density ρ).
Before entering the oil and gas layer, the duty personnel or the duty driller should check the mud-gas separator:
(1) The stop valve below the pressure gauge is in the normally open state.
(2) The safety valve is in normal working condition (the safety valve handle is perpendicular to the ground). Before installation, before opening the oil and gas layer, and every 30 days of oil and gas layer operation, the handle should be turned counterclockwise to start the safety valve.
(3) The stop valve of the pressure measuring flange is in the normally open state.
(4) Close the stop valve after the exhaust pipeline is exhausted.
(5) The ignition device is complete.
The external fitter shall conduct a patrol inspection of the liquid-gas separator and its accessories every shift, focusing on the appearance of the tank, pipeline, safety valve, pressure gauge, fasteners, etc., and rectify any problems in a timely manner.
After the mud-gas separator is put into use, if the separated gas contains hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide or flammable gas, warning measures shall be taken, and the on-duty cadre or technician shall issue an ignition operation instruction and supervise the ignition process.
The ignition operation shall be carried out by the external fitter, and the ignition process shall follow the procedure of ignition first and then operation.
During the use of the mud-gas separator, a special person shall be arranged to observe the return drilling fluid from the drain port, the vibration of the liquid inlet pipeline and the pressure of the exhaust pipeline, monitor the flame height, and ignite after the flame is extinguished. If the following abnormal phenomena are found, the machine shall be shut down immediately and reported in a timely manner.
(1) Gas is discharged from the outlet of the drain pipe or liquid is discharged from the outlet of the exhaust pipe.
(2) The reading of the exhaust pipe pressure gauge is greater than the calculated maximum allowable working pressure.
(3) The main pressure-bearing components of the mud-gas separator have defects such as cracks, bulges, deformation, and leakage.
(4) Safety accessories such as safety valves and pressure gauges fail.
(5) Seals or fixings such as liquid inlet pipes, liquid discharge pipes, exhaust pipes, fasteners, etc. are damaged.
(6) Severe vibration of the mud-gas separator and pipelines threatens safe operation.
