The inevitable high solid content of the aggravated drilling fluid, the decrease in the quality of the filter cake caused by the decrease of the particle size with time, the increase of the static shear force and the viscosity, these will become a very serious problem.

The increase in the concentration of colloidal particles and near-colloid particles that are too small to be separated from the drilling fluid causes this problem. Centrifuge can be used to selectively remove these fine particles.

In this application, the underflow is returned to the drilling fluid and overflow. The separated liquid and fine particles can be stored as a packer fluid, or diluted and adjusted for use in other drilling projects, or discarded.

It is enough to deal with 10%~15% of the drilling fluid volume in the circulating system. The processing capacity of centrifuges designed for non-weighted drilling fluids for this purpose is much smaller than that of large-volume centrifuges. It is almost always necessary to dilute the injected drilling fluid of these drilling fluids.

Due to the high solids content of the aggravated drilling fluid, torque often becomes an issue during processing. The following ways can reduce the torque to increase the depth of the drilling fluid level, allow some drilling fluid to overflow and mix with the separated solid phase; reduce the rotation speed or use a higher planetary differential; reduce the continuous injection rate without using discontinuous higher injection rates.

For high-density drilling fluids, in the treatment process, you can first use hydrocyclones to process the drilling fluid, and then inject the overflow into the Decanter Centrifuge (while the underflow returns to the cobalt well fluid system), so that the centrifuge can be lowered The solid phase load. In any case, the drilling fluid system contains coarse particles.

The removal of these coarse particles reduces the load of the centrifuge, thereby improving the removal efficiency of colloidal particles and near-colloidal particles.
