What should be paid attention to in the installation and use of shear pump?

1) Installation of shear pump

The shear pump and the motor are already installed on the same base when they leave the factory, and the user only needs to install it as a whole on the skid base of the drilling fluid tank when using it. Ensure the foundation level, firmness and reliability, and avoid vibration.

The installation position of the pump is as close as possible to the shear tank to shorten the length of the suction pipe and reduce the suction loss.

2) Use of shear pump

Before starting the shear pump, check the wiring of the power supply to make the rotation direction of the shear pump consistent with the rotation indication direction on the shield.

Open the valve in front of the pump suction port to fill the pump with liquid, unscrew the air plug, exhaust the air in the shear pump, and prepare to start.

It is strictly forbidden to use a shear pump to suck active drilling fluid to prevent the solid particles and barite in the drilling fluid from damaging the shear impeller.

Dry running of the shear pump is strictly prohibited. On the one hand, dry running will cause rapid wear of the shear impeller. On the other hand, most shear pumps use mechanical seals. Dry running will cause increased wear of the friction pair of the mechanical seal and failure of the shear pump shaft seal.

Turn on the shear pump to add polymer or clay and other polymer chemical agents through the shear mixing funnel. Then use the drilling fluid gun to make it hydrolyze quickly and evenly.

The liquid containing polymer or clay is sent into the drilling fluid system through the shear pump. When stopping the pump, close the valve at the suction port. In winter, the liquid in the volute and decompression cover of the shear pump should be discharged to prevent freezing and cracking.
