How to use the mud hopper venturi

The mud hopper venturi is generally combined with a sand pump to form a jet mixing device, or combined with a shear pump to form a shear mixing device. The mud hopper venturi can also be used alone.

The jet mixing hopper is basically the same as the cement mixing funnel used for cementing in terms of structure and principle. The drilling fluid mixing hopper mainly consists of a nozzle, a mixing chamber, a venturi tube, a hopper and a butterfly valve. The venturi tube is a hollow tube that gradually expands according to a certain curved surface. Its main function is to increase the shear force of the liquid in the tube so that the material can be better dispersed and the pressure of the mixed liquid can be increased, so that it can enter the circulation tank.

After the jet hopper is mixed, the pressure loss is very large. In order to make the drilling fluid be directly discharged into the drilling fluid tank after mixing by the jet funnel. The funnel is usually installed on the top of the drilling fluid tank (i.e., high-position installation) so that the mixed drilling fluid can be directly discharged into the drilling fluid tank without climbing.

The use of mud hopper venturi is actually not complicated. It can be used in combination with a sand pump or shear pump, or used alone. When used alone, the mixing hopper is generally installed on the top of the mud tank.
