What is the purpose of a gear reducer

There are many types of gear reducers available for mechanical agitators, and most equipment can be classified into two categories: spiral/roller and spiral/conical.

Although most people believe that the spiral/conical type requires less power and is more widely used than the spiral/roller type, there is no direct evidence that one type is better than the other. The spiral/roller type is usually used for direct negative drives with reducers, while the spiral/conical gearbox is used for right-angle drives or for parallel drives. That is, the motor shaft is on the impeller shaft or concentric with it, and they can have 1, 2 or 3 gear reductions.

Both types of gear reducers are very good in application and have many advantages in terms of maintenance and economic operation. However, like all mechanical equipment, routine planned maintenance and use according to the manufacturer's recommendations will extend the life of the equipment, and it is necessary to keep full records of maintenance. The most wear-resistant parts on most gearboxes are bearings and seals. Routine leak checks can reveal whether the seals are replaced. When the equipment is noisy and the temperature rises, it is time to replace the bearings. Repair or replace these parts as soon as possible to reduce the cost of gearbox maintenance.
