What is a cyclone?
We usually use cyclones in desander, desilter, and mud cleaner. So what kind of equipment is a cyclone? How does it seem to be very important? Today, the editor of Xi'an HL Petroleum will give you a brief introduction.
The cyclone is a device that converts the pressure generated by the centrifugal pump into centrifugal force, causing the solid phase suspended in the drilling fluid to separate from the drilling fluid. This separation is actually achieved by increasing the centrifugal force in the conical container to increase the gravity to accelerate the solid phase precipitation. The centrifugal movement in the cyclone can increase the gravity by 200 times. In drilling operations, the hydrocyclone uses centrifugal force to separate solid particles in the drilling fluid in the range of 15 to 80 μm. The drilling fluid carrying solid particles is discharged from the underflow port of the cone-shaped container, and the purified drilling fluid is discharged from the overflow port.
The cyclone is a cone-shaped container with cylindrical parts. The upper cylindrical part of the cone is the slurry inlet. A tangential slurry inlet is installed on the outside of the cylindrical body, and the lower part is an open cone for solid particles emission. The closed vertical cylindrical part has a downwardly protruding vortex duct and extends below the tangential slurry inlet position.
The above is a brief introduction to the cyclone. In the above we mentioned the vortex tube. In the next article, we will talk about the vortex tube. If you need to buy a de-sander or a desilter, please feel free to contact us.
