As a common separation and classification equipment, the hydrocyclone works on the principle of centrifugal sedimentation. When the two-phase (or three-phase) mixture to be separated enters the cyclone tangentially from the periphery of the cyclone at a certain pressure, a strong three-dimensional elliptical strong rotating shear turbulence is generated. Because of the difference in particle size (or density) between coarse particles (or heavy phase) and fine particles (or light phase), the centrifugal force, centripetal buoyancy, and fluid drag force they receive are different. Part of the coarse particles (or heavy phase) are discharged through the underflow port of the cyclone, and most of the fine particles (or light phase) are discharged from the overflow pipe, so as to achieve the purpose of separation and classification.

Working principle of hydrocyclone

The basic principle of the hydrocyclone is to separate liquid-liquid, liquid-solid, liquid-gas and other two-phase or multiphase mixtures with a certain density difference under the action of centrifugal force. The mixed liquid enters the cyclone tangentially at a certain pressure, and a high-speed rotating flow field is generated in the cylindrical cavity. The dense components in the mixture move downwards in the axial direction and radially outwards at the same time under the action of the swirling field, and move downwards along the wall when reaching the cone section, and are discharged from the underflow port, thus forming The outer vortex vortex flow field; the components with low density move to the direction of the central axis and form an upward moving inner vortex in the center of the axis, which is then discharged from the overflow port, thus achieving the purpose of two-phase separation.
